Education – Paying for it!
What are the financial options and choices open to you if you are at college or sixth form full-time?
Child Benefit
> Child benefit will continue to be paid to your parent or guardian if you decide to continue in full-time education and are under 19.
> A claim will need to be made by contacting the local Child Benefit Centre.

> If you’re under 20 and have one or more children, Care to Learn can help with the cost of your childcare while you learn.

> Contact your Connexions Personal AdviserCourse Fees
> If you are under 19 and are attending a Further Education course at a local college or Sixth Form you will not usually pay course fees.
> Some courses may have a small registration fee and students who turn 19 whilst on their course may have to pay some tuition fees.
> For further information contact the College or Sixth Form you wish to attend.Travel Expenses
> You could apply for travel expenses if travel from home to the nearest school/college offering a suitable course is over 5 miles.
> To qualify you must also be under 19 and studying a full-time Further Education course.Financial Help
Some students may be eligible to claim an allowance to help with the cost of staying in full time further education. This is dependent on your own or your parental income. Money is paid termly to help with the cost of books, materials and transport.
