STEPS

STEPS (Social Training and Education Programme in Surrey) is run by The Surrey Care Trust.

It offers the following programmes

> School Inclusion: works with schools in Woking and Spelthorne to provide a short intensive programme for pupils in years 8-10 who are indentified by the schools as being at risk of social exclusion.
contact: sian@surreycaretrust.co.uk for Woking and mark@surreycaretrust.org.uk for Spelthorne

> U16s: works with years 10 and 11 who are school non-attenders. They are still on-role at school but attend the STEPS programme 4 days a week in Knaphill instead. We do not do GCSE's but offer an alternative curriculum using Open College Network units where the young person can work at their own pace.

The programme runs 3 days a week. If the young person is aged 16-19 they can claim £30 a week for attending, increasing if they carry out work experience. It is also based in Knaphill and offers OCN units. contact: magda.pascoe@surreycaretrust.co.uk, 01483 487037
