Access Funds

> Access Funds are intended to provide support for students in individual cases, where a need is established (you need to provide evidence) & payments will be made according to individual student needs, so that some students will receive more or less than others.
> Access Funds are available to full-time & some part-time students on Further & Higher Education courses.
> Colleges & universities set their own criteria.
> Colleges manage their own procedures within the national framework and are allocated differing amounts of funds, depending on a variety of criteria.
> This means that the amounts of funds available to individuals and the priorities for allocating money may differ between colleges.
> Support may be provided in cash direct to the student or to a third party, through the provision of items or services and may be a grant or a repayable loan.
> Some colleges may provide bursaries to students although many colleges may not have the funds available to do this. Some local authority & schools schemes operate in this way. Contact your local education authority
