Income Support
> Income Support is predominately a benefit available to young people who are not required to actively seek work or training (please refer to Guidance Leaflet A for details of eligibility).
> Those who qualify for this benefit do not have to sign-on at the Job Centre/ Job Centre Plus, and will usually be paid via an order book rather than by giro.
Making a claim for Income Support
> Those 16/17 year olds wishing to apply for Income Support should do so by completing Form A1 which can be obtained through the local Benefits Agency/ Job Centre Plus.
> Staff at the Benefits Agency/ Job Centre Plus will usually investigate the circumstances surrounding the claim and may call the young person in for an interview.
