School pupils aged 16-19 and the benefits available to them

Year 12 and 13 pupils from low income families who live in Surrey may apply for Surrey Education Maintenance Allowances from Pupil Services in Guildford.
> Details of the scheme and an application form may be obtained from the Council's contact centre on 08456 009009
> The contact centre can also provide details and application forms for assistance with travel costs.
> The Student Support Service has also received an allocation from the Department for Education and Skills (DfES) for a School Access Fund in the 2002/2003 academic year. Grants may be available to Surrey resident pupils from low income families to cover course related expenses such as field trips, books and equipment and university interview expenses.

Public sector schools in Surrey process applications for Access Fund grants from their own pupils. Other Surrey resident pupils, including those attending schools outside Surrey should contact the Student Support Service (Applications Team) on 020 8541 9494 for more information, including an application form and information on eligibility.
