Fit for life

> Regular exercise is good for you, and it doesn’t have to be exhausting or painful. This is what it can do for you:

> It helps you feel good.
> It helps your heart and musculo-skeletal system to work more efficiently.
> It helps you manage your weight.
> It helps in the management of disorders such as asthma.
> It tones your muscles and makes you stronger
> It relieves stress and helps you relax and sleep well
> It can enable you to meet new people and make new
friends.

To get the most benefit from exercise, you should try to do activities that:

> You enjoy.
> Make you feel good.
> Can be done regularly, and
> Fit easily into your daily routine.

> You should really do about 30 minutes or more of moderate physical activity a day (60 mins for children, 30 mins for adults). You could do this in smaller slots of x15 minutes if time is tights.
> There are hundreds of activities to choose from, and which ones you do are entirely up to you.
> It’s worth remembering that different activities have different benefits.
> Although 30 minutes a day might sound like a lot, you’re probably doing some of that already in your daily life. Things like walking or cycling to school, dancing, rollerblading and skateboarding all count!
> To find out more about sports type activities, or joining a sports club, why not go down to your local leisure centre – it’s likely there will be a club or tuition for your chosen pursuit.
> Always start and end each session with a few minutes of gentle activity to warm cand cool down.
