Job Opportunities for Young People: Our Centres produce regular listings of local opportunities. Vacancy Bulletins are now listed on the Connexions website Job search page and you can also pick up copies from your local Centre to share with the young people you are currently working with. Please also direct your young people to our website and encourage them to spend a few minutes completing a few questions which will open up a database of jobs relevant and available to them.

The grant will be available from April 2010 until October 2010. It is recognised that young people in the current economic climate face particular issues and this grant is a way of supporting them and ensuring that we are training a new generation for economic recovery. 10. Surrey 14-19 News Issue 10 - Summer 2010
11. Fading memories affect everyone – Start talking about your mental health.
NHS Surrey and Surrey County Council are pleased to announce the launch of the consultation on our joint draft commissioning strategy for dementia and mental health services for older people in Surrey This has been produced by the Dementia and Older People’s Mental Health Strategy Group, led jointly by NHS Surrey and Surrey County Council. Membership includes representation from Surrey and Borders Partnership Foundation Trust, Surrey Community Health, district and borough councils and voluntary organisations.
With over half the population of Surrey aged 50 or above and people living longer this is a hugely important issue for all of us. The need to produce this strategy has arisen from talking and consulting with a range of people who have informed us that although there is evidence of lots of good services in Surrey, there is room for improvement and modernisation. For the details of our consultation and how you can get involved please visit our web site http://www.fadingmemories.surreyhealth.nhs.uk/
The purpose of this consultation is to check that these priorities and their related actions have wider support. Feedback on the strategy is by 1 October 2010. If you would like additional copies of either the flyer or the booklet please leave us a message on 0800 6525 297 or e-mail us at communications@surreypct.nhs.uk
We would be very grateful if you could help us make this widely available by passing on this e-mail and drawing it to the attention of your teams.
If you would like us to provide copies of our A5 publication for you to display or circulate, or to come and discuss the contents please leave us a message on 0800 6525 297 or e-mail communications@surreypct.nhs.uk and we will contact you to make the arrangements.
Thank you for your support in raising awareness of this hugely important issue and we look forward to hearing your views.
12. What are the key issues for Surrey's young people?
During May and June, we conducted stage 1 of our consultation. We asked you to select what in your opinion were the key issues for Surrey Young People, from a long list of 23 issues identified from ‘One in Ten, a needs assessment of young people aged thirteen to nineteen in Surrey’.
Stage 2 of the consultation now begins. Please ensure that every staff member you manage has the opportunity to participate in this consultation by either completing this online survey http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/8D5ZQH6 or by filling out the attached form and returning it to the address printed on the form. We need to have all responses returned to us by July 23rd.
It’s important that we get as many people’s opinions as possible as this will shape the future of Services for Young People.
There are 3 different ways to participate
Everybody – click on the link and you will be taken to an online version of the questionnaire (this should only take around 5 minutes to complete. Link > http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/8D5ZQH6
Staff & Adults – Attached is a questionnaire entitled outcomes consultation 2. Please complete this and return it to us.
Young People – Attached is a young people’s version of the questionnaire called outcomes YP 2. Please distribute this to as many young people as you can. This should include youth groups and any young people we work with.

13. Vinvolved Surrey Newletter
Welcome to the Surrey vinvolved eNewsletter for Organisations, Community Partners, Charities, Volunteer Centres, Public Sector, Surrey County Council & Local Businesses.
Thank you to all those Personal Advisers who attended the PA conference on July the 7th at the HG Wells Centre at Woking.
We hope you found the event informative and enjoyable and we especially thank those of you who gave valuable feedback about the quality of the information you received and the subsequent training you feel you require. All training needs will be assessed and in the meantime please continue to look at the Connexions Surrey Website http://www.connexionssurrey.co.uk/index.html for all training updates.
Also at the PA Conference, we spent some time looking at issues around referrals and although there is no 'quick fix' to some of these, one thing we can do to make the process easier is to build a library of agencies/referral processes/forms for all PAs to use. The intention is to build a new page on the website where information on all relevant agencies can be held in one place, to save you some time in locating them.
In order to start our research, please can you drop me a line with a list of agencies you have referred clients to in the past, or that you would like to have access to in the future. We can then work on finding the most up to date contacts and processes for each and compile them into a single resource for all PA colleagues.
Many thanks
