Sportiv8 yesterday opened its first Kick Class programme in Surrey for recent year 11 school leavers and Under 19’s not in education, employment or training. Sportiv8 has established a unique delivery platform for the 16 week courses which include a combination of activities using various media platforms such as laptops, mobiles & gaming consoles and football related sessions.

3: Guildford YMCA September News - Position vacant
It is with considerable regret that we announce the imminent departure of a respected colleague. Joy Ahearn has been a part of Guildford YMCA in various roles over many years, but she feels the time has finally come to move on.
Having worked at both Plantation and Bridge Street she has a broad range of experience with young people. She established the Nightstop project in 2004 and many young people owe her their thanks. Her work on homelessness prevention in local schools has been invaluable, as well as her work with individuals over the years and we will be sorry to see her go.
Needless to say we must find a replacement - details of the vacancy can be found here.
4: Sexual Health Visioning Event
Please find attached a flyer for a sexual health visioning event for Surrey to be held on Wednesday 22nd October in Guildford. Please can you support the distribution of this flyer to key professionals involved in sexual health. I want to ensure we have wide representation so I would be grateful if you could pass this on to the individuals who you feel would be appropriate to be at this event and influence the development of sexual health services in Surrey.

Job Vacancies for Young People
Did you know that there are a wide range of job vacancies, vacant college places and training courses all over the county waiting to be filled? As the majority don’t have particularly demanding entry requirements, they are an ideal choice for many NEET youngsters.
Our Centres produce regular listings of local opportunities. Vacancy Bulletins are now listed on the Connexions website Job search page and you can also pick up copies from your local Centre to share with the young people you are currently working with.
NEET Activities Flyer - July - Sept 2008
Please find attached a document highlighting a range of NEET activities taking place for young people around the County from July until the end of September 2008. The aim of the document is to give you an indication of the types of activities/programmes that are available or are currently being undertaken.
The next edition of the flyer will cover the period October - December 2008 and ideally I would like to distribute it to you all week commencing 16th September which would allow you some time to speak with your NEET young people and potentially get them signed up onto a course/programme that may be starting within this period.
If you are involved in any NEET (16-18 year old) activities or know of any activities for NEET young people that are taking place between October and the end of December 2008 then please let me have the following details by 12th September and I will include the programme in the next flyer:
- Course title
- Brief description, to include, number of weeks, core content, referral process etc
- Agency/provider
- Dates
- Time
- Costs if any incurred by young person
- Contact name
- Contact details i.e. telephone number and email address
