Cycling
Travelling by bike can be one of the safest and most enjoyable ways to get around. However, there are some important tips to remember:> Keep your bike in good working order.
> Repairs are best done at home rather than on the road.
> Pedal safely but positively.
> Appear to have a sense of purpose.
> Look competent and wear the right gear.
> Dress to be seen and safe: reflectors, toe clips and helmet.
> Have the correct accessories such as lights in good working order.
> Mirrors can be helpful and a piercing loud horn is great in emergencies.
> Avoid short-cuts even if you are in a hurry.
> Keep moving if someone signals for help. Wave to show you have registered the problem and go on to the next convenient phone.
> Don’t be afraid to pedal hard out of or around potential trouble.
> Always carry a mobile telephone, phone card or change for the phone box.
