Mobile Phone Safety
> Have your mobile in a separate pocket to your wallet, ideally inside your jacket or trousers.
> Set the phone to discreet or if possible personalize your phone to beep once and vibrate, by setting your phone to silent with vibrating alert active.
> Walk confidently but always be aware.
> Look around you before you answer the phone to check if anyone is watching you.
> Hold your phone firmly when making a call.
> Copy all your phone numbers down onto a piece of paper or if possible onto a computer and create a hard copy of the numbers, either into a file on the computer or to a floppy disk.
> Set up your phone so it can only be activated with a pin number.
> Keep to well lit areas when walking on the street and don’t take any short cuts through alleyways.
> Use speed dials to be able to call home quickly.
> Make sure your mobile is fully charged.
> Don't walk & talk or text. Your mind will be on your conversation and a thief will see you as an easy target.
> Only give your number to people you trust.
> Make sure your phone has enough credit. Keep spare cash in case you run out.
