Walking out by yourself
> Always let someone know where you are, even if its just a message.> This is even more important if your plans change.
> Have your keys ready so you can get into the house quickly.
> Have your mobile phone/BT chargecard/change in your pocket, just in case you lose your handbag.
> Always be aware of what is going on around you and trust your instincts - if you have a 'funny feeling' about someone or something, don't ignore it, act on it.
> Remember drugs and alcohol dull your reflexes and reduce your awareness of danger.
> Always remember your voice is one of the best forms of defence, and once you have used it your breathing will be less difficult.
